Ever been chatting with your pals online and suddenly thought, “Man, I wish there was a digital junk drawer for all our random thoughts?” Well, you’re not alone! Imagine a magical corner of the internet, a veritable “Off-Topic Oasis,” where you could unleash your inner food photographer, share that obscure indie band you just discovered, or even post a picture of your cat wearing a tiny hat (because, why not?). This isn’t just about digital clutter; it’s about sparking joy and boosting engagement! Think of it: every time someone posts their latest culinary masterpiece or a hilarious meme, a little “new content!” beacon lights up, drawing more eyes and more chatter to the whole site. It’s like a digital potluck, but instead of casseroles, we’re sharing our wildest, most wonderful tangents!
This “Off-Topic” haven isn’t just a whimsical idea; it’s a strategic move to transform a good community into a great one. By providing a dedicated space for the delightful detours of conversation, we’re not just allowing for more personal expression, we’re actively encouraging it. This vibrant hub of miscellaneous musings would become a magnet for curious minds, turning casual browsers into active participants. It’s the digital equivalent of a water cooler, but instead of office gossip, we’re sharing our favorite tunes and debating the merits of pineapple on pizza. Get ready for a surge in “post updated” notifications and a whole lot more fun!
Just a thought, but what say YE? Note- Posted due to popular demand during a VC.
It’s indisputable that off-topic conversations are beneficial for the community. But what would be the reason for outsourcing it to the official forum?
The same conversations could be enriching the official TG chat without the risk of cluttering official forum unnecessarily. Having the forum as a concentrated place for DAO ideas and discussions has great benefit which might be lost if it is diluted with random chats people might get distracted with.
If Devs can make the “Off topic” as a sub forum which would be a ‘separate skin’ which can be toggled to for those that wish to check those out - without impacting the existing flow of DAO conversations - that could be one way to execute it.
But I’m still not convinced if enriching forum is better than enriching TG chat.
I could support the idea but with the understanding that it could lead to less conversation in the established TG groups. I have been an avid forum user for many years and understand the value of an Off-topic section. I would caution however, that it adds a layer of moderation and oversight that does not currently exist in our structure.
I’m all for “Off Topic” conversations simply taking place in the main telegram.
It boosts conversation and involvement within the established community, already contains mods and oversight, and would encourage TG lurkers to get involved in more casual conversations just as you described, but why not simply in the TG main?
