Meeting Intro by Turtle

Turtle gave a summary of treasury status, budget updates from the last meeting, notable DAO achievements, etc.

Reviewed numerous proposals and discussed feedback which was posted to forum to help guide existing proposals to future vote.

Reviewed major milestones/metrics from previous 30 days including K9 Quest, Polygon Expansion, Budgets, and overall KNINE performance.

Implemented a Whale Chat Code of Conduct.

Ongoing treasury and budget monitoring.

Proposals Reviewed/Voted On

1. K9 Finance DAO x Thrive Protocol (Funding Opportunity) - REVIEW ONLY

NON-VOTING REVIEW

Takeaway - Thrive may have access to Polygon Grant funding in the future and should be kept informed of the Polygon Expansion Study.

2. K9 Booth at Futurist Conference, Eth Miami - YES / NO / MORE INFO

100% of Roundtable voted Yes
0% of Roundtable voted No

Takeaway - Full support of this proposal. Proposal was moved to Snapshot and passed with the token holder vote with a YES.

3. Launch and Seed New knBONE Liquidity Pools on Shibarium DEXs - REVIEW ONLY

Takeaway - Too much risk to do this for random pairs on Shibarium. When TREAT airdrop completes or more information re: WoofWars is available there may be a revisit of this concept.

4. K9 Finance ā€œGolden Pawā€ NFT Incentive Program and Design Competition - REVIEW ONLY

Takeaway - No clear benefit to DAO, cost outline and artist missing from requirements. Revisit in future if a good reason for an NFT comes up otherwise avoid NFTs just for the sake of creating them.

5. Real Yield Staking Contract Update: Secure Migration of Staked Tokens Between Wallets - REVIEW ONLY

Takeaway - Proposes a method of being able to move tokens without unstaking them. Doesn’t address costs or properly outline benefit to the DAO. Current demand is not high enough for this feature to warrant the development and could be revisited at a future date.

Really thought this would get more attention when first proposed. Understandably so why we wait to minimize risk

Thanks for the summary Turtle.

I’d like to suggest implementing a one-sheet summary that includes individual vote records (Dog Votes) and clear, line-item treasury or budget updates (proposal?). Transparency is critical, especially for a DAO, and this would help all members, not just the inner circle, I don’t even mean Robert Rules or Minutes, just something helping laymen stay informed and involved.

Regarding the proposed Whale Chat Code of Conduct LOL! Let’s be honest, it feels like a weak and reactionary targeted, move that fits the ongoing pattern of control by certain DAO ā€œleaders.ā€ To clarify for the wider community: this code emerged because I defended Shytoshi Kusama with strong adult language when some whales repeatedly entered the Whale Chat to smear him, calling him a scammer and spreading divisive narratives.

I used strong language, yes, they deserved it. But it was in response to constant disrespect toward Shytoshi and the broader Shiba ecosystem. That drama stayed internal to the Whale Chat but since one individual continues to press this issue and bring it up even in unrelated discussions I’ve had, I think it best to clarify the petty origin of this Code of Conduct, str8 lil bussies.

For the sake of transparency: several of these vocal anti-Shytoshi whales appear on the Roundtable of Dogs. To me that’s concerning.

Lucie recently stepped away, I don’t know her reasons, but this kind of petty behavior could be part of the problem. It’s definitely pushing me away and I was one of the most bullish promoters of this project.

In short:

  1. More Transparency, some consider it non-negotiable, do we need a proposal to initiate specific (Dog Votes) records, posted on Twitter (i.e X).
  2. Respect for contributors especially Shytoshi & Buzz, a basic baseline.
  3. And lastly, this ā€œconduct codeā€ seems more about silencing dissent than creating a healthier DAO culture, that event of Shy smearing had passed, but apparently still lives Rent-Free in the heads of some, lol, lames.
  4. The K9 Protocol is a good product till further notice.

WOOF!

Hi BoneArmy,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

While the points you raise are worthy of further discussion - the general tone of your message puts the reader in a confrontational state of mind from the get-go.

If you are looking to achieve some positive resolutions on your proposals I would recommend you to run your proposals through AI first to remove emotions out of them before posting. Otherwise, people will be tempted to answer emotions with own emotions and no productive result will be achieved in that case.

Coming back to your summary:

  1. While I am always a big supporter of more transparency in general - I am not sure publishing individual votes of RToD members would bring about transparency you are looking for or will be beneficial for the K9 DAO as a whole.

Currently the RToD votes are performed anonymously - which allows RToD members to vote in accordance with their true beliefs without any fear of being singled out for them and any peer pressure within or outside RToD.

If such ability was removed - the votes will become more political as members would have to worry about the optics of their choices rather than purely what’s good for the K9 DAO.

Having said that, I do think that it is beneficial for the DAO members to have a mechanism to question decisions of the RToD and be able to ask for more reasoning behind some decisions taken (or not taken) as well as a second review in case any new information comes to light or situation on the ground changes - warranting a second glance.

I guess in a sense we already have this mechanism as we are doing exactly that right now.

All RToD meeting summaries are posted on the forum and DAO members just have to engage more here to obtain better insight and perspective from RToD members.

If you have any other ideas on how to improve the transparency of the DAO or RToD - feel free to create a post/proposal so it can be discussed broadly with the community.

  1. Agree.

  2. The need for clear code of conduct for whale chat has been brought up on a number of occasions over the period of chat’s existence so I would not tie it to any individual person or incident.

The wording of the code of conduct is quite clear. Its aim is to create a respectful environment where people are free to question ideas but should not be attacking other people personally. And it applies to everyone irrespective of the side of the argument that they are on.

Also, it provides official mechanism for the community to resolve such issues via the means of a simple majority vote of the whales. The chat mods can trigger the vote - but the decision still lies in the hands of the community so there is no room for abuse of power.

  1. Not sure if ā€˜notice’ is really appropriate means of expressing ones opinion about the protocol. Again it comes back to the tone and intent that I mentioned in the beginning. Positive attitude always helps to achieve positive results.

Hope this clarifies some of your concerns.

Blessings,
