Dune Analytics - Data Point Requests For K9 DAO Dashboards

Introduction and Objective:

To increase engagement with the K9 DAO Dashboard and simplify access to data-driven insights for community discussions, voice chats, and social media outreach, this forum topic is dedicated to ongoing feedback on desired data analytics for the K9 Finance DAO. The goal is to identify and prioritize data points that the community values, enabling informed decision-making and attracting new investors through transparent, compelling metrics.

Benefits to K9 Finance Community:

Accessible and relevant data enhances understanding of the K9 Finance DAO’s performance for holders, stakers, traders, liquid stakers, farmers, and investors. Visualizations like graphs, charts, and tables make complex data digestible, especially for those unfamiliar with the K9 Finance platform or the Shibarium ecosystem. By showcasing meaningful metrics, we can:

  • Highlight the project’s impact and growth potential to external audiences.
  • Justify the investment in the Dune Analytics dashboard by driving traffic and engagement.
  • Inform strategic decisions, such as governance proposals, new product development, marketing campaigns, and identifying gaps in the crypto ecosystem.
  • Foster community engagement by addressing data needs and encouraging data-driven discussions.

Proposal Details

What:

This topic serves as a long-term forum to collect community and stakeholder feedback on desired data points related to K9 Finance DAO’s products, wallet activity, smart contract performance, and token metrics across Ethereum, Shibarium, and other supported chains.

Who:

  • Stakeholders: Community members, investors, or team members submitting query ideas.
  • Operations Team: Monitors feedback, creates PBIs, and coordinates with stakeholders and developers.
  • Developers: Build, test, and publish queries to the K9 DAO Dashboard.

Where:

Queries will be developed using Dune Analytics and published to the K9 DAO Dashboard under the official K9 Finance DAO account.

When:

This is an ongoing initiative. New query ideas will be reviewed and prioritized as they are submitted, with tasks assigned to developers based on community needs and resource availability.

How:

  1. Stakeholder Submission: Stakeholders submit query ideas as comments in this forum topic using the provided template. They serve as the primary contact for clarifications.

Template

**Telegram Username**: [e.g., @CryptoAnalyst123]
**Email (Optional)**: [e.g., analyst@crypto.org]

**Description**:
[Clear explanation of the query's purpose, e.g., "Analyze daily trading volume of K9 token on Shibarium DEXs over the past 6 months to identify trading patterns."]

**Business Value**:
[Why this query matters, e.g., "Tracking trading volume helps assess market activity and informs liquidity strategies for K9 token."]

**Requirements**:
- **Blockchain Network**: [e.g., Shibarium, Ethereum]
- **Data Sources**: [e.g., DEX trades, K9 token contract events, specific protocols like ShibaSwap]
- **Time Range**: [e.g., Last 6 months, Specific dates: 2025-01-01 to 2025-06-27]
- **Granularity**: [e.g., Daily, Hourly, Per Transaction]
- **Output Format**: [e.g., Table, Line Chart, Bar Graph]
- **Key Metrics**: [e.g., Transaction volume (USD), Unique wallet count, Staking rewards]
- **Filters/Parameters**: [e.g., Trades > $1000, Specific token pair: KNINE/BONE]

**Additional Information**:
[e.g., "K9 token contract: 0x123...abc; Focus on ShibaSwap trades; Exclude bot transactions if possible."]
  1. Operations Review: The operations team monitors the forum, reviews submissions, and creates a Product Backlog Item (PBI) with detailed requirements, additional context, and any clarifications needed from stakeholders.

  2. Development: Developers write the Dune Analytics query, conduct performance testing, validate data accuracy, and execute regression testing. They collaborate with operations to ensure alignment with stakeholder expectations.

  3. Validation and Sign-Off: Operations demos the completed query to stakeholders for approval.

    • 4a. Revisions: If adjustments are needed, the PBI is returned to developers for updates. Steps 3 and 4 are repeated until stakeholder approval is secured.
  4. Publication: Once approved, developers publish the query to the K9 DAO Dashboard for public access.

Impact Assessment

  • Positive Impact:

    • Enhances community knowledge of K9 Finance DAO’s performance, identifying areas for improvement.
    • Drives project growth by enabling data-driven marketing, governance, and product development.
    • Increases dashboard engagement, justifying development efforts and attracting investors.
  • Potential Challenges:

    • Maintenance Overhead: As queries increase, maintaining the dashboard may strain resources. To mitigate, developers must follow coding best practices, using modular sub-queries and clear documentation to simplify updates.
    • Testing Needs: New queries must not disrupt existing dashboard functionality. Implementing automated testing (unit, integration, and regression tests) can reduce regression risks and ensure query reliability.
  • Mitigation Strategies:

    • Adopt standardized query development practices to streamline maintenance.
    • Implement an automated test suite to validate new and existing queries.
    • Regularly review query performance to optimize for Dune Analytics constraints.

Hi Couch,

After reviewing this proposal, I understand it is possible to use Dune Analytics queries to display specific data points and charts on websites or maybe even within a section of the Bonecrusher dApp.

While I recognize the power of the Dune Analytics platform, I believe it may be challenging for the average user to understand and navigate the platform screens. I’d like to see certain data points integrated into an accessible area where the community and team can easily track these metrics. @Couch_Adventures, can you confirm please if it’s feasible for the team to add data in a user-friendly, digestible format to an area on the Website or within the Bonecrusher dApp?

If so, I’d be happy to suggest some relevant data points I believe would be a good starting point. I suspect Frank may also have some key stats he tracks that would be a valuable additions to this section as well.

Thanks for taking the time to add this open proposal area for Dune queries.

The suggestion to this request in the Roundtable of Dogs meeting was to put together a list of metrics that are wanted and then to use the “Dune Discover” feature to find creators who are “Open to Work”. They can be contracted by the DAO to create specific data visualizations that come up as requests

The list can be found here: https://dune.com/discover/creators/leaderboard

The reasoning from this is:

  • The Dune exercise done by the developers is “done” as all of the data has been uploaded to give access to Shibarium data to Dune
  • Data work can be never ending and requests will always come in for improvements
  • The ethos of Dune in general is that it is an open source platform for individual creators to create dashboards & those tools are now there
  • Dune has received much less use from the community than expected, and the amount of time it took to create this was substantial
  • Working with popular Dune creators who are unfamiliar with Shibarium & K9 can provide more exposure to the protocol and network as they often have large followings on Dune and X that could be exposed & introduced

Dune analytics can surely attract more builders who are more aligned with data rather than market sentiment. Plus KNINE crew can have accurate data on hand for any shibarium discussions or detailed inquiries on bonecrusher and its progress as a protocol. 🫱🏾‍🫲🏼 Good for all outside of or partnered with KNINE to also use as well as a quick reference during onboarding or outsourcing more builders. Transparency on hand 24/7= solidarity
