Create a dedicated “Ideas” section within the community platform to encourage members to share preliminary ideas, gather feedback, and identify potential challenges before developing formal proposals. This brainstorming area will foster collaborative ideation, enhance community engagement, and streamline the process of refining concepts into actionable proposals.
Purpose
Encourage Open Ideation: Provide a space for members to post initial ideas without the pressure of presenting a fully formed proposal.
Gather Feedback Early: Allow community members to offer insights, highlight potential roadblocks, and suggest improvements to gauge the viability of an idea.
Streamline Proposal Development: Use feedback from the brainstorming area to create well-structured proposals, potentially leveraging tools like Agent 9 for drafting, which can then be reviewed and voted on by the community.
Key Features
Simple Idea Submission: Members can post a short description (e.g., 100-200 words) outlining their idea, including its purpose and potential impact.
Feedback Mechanism: Community members can comment with constructive feedback, questions, or suggestions to help refine the idea.
Visibility and Accessibility: The brainstorming area will be easily accessible within the platform Category section, with notifications for new ideas to encourage participation.
Optional Agent 9 Integration: For ideas gaining traction, Agent 9 can assist in drafting polished proposals based on community feedback, ready for formal review and voting.
Benefits
Promotes inclusivity by allowing all members to contribute ideas, regardless of their readiness to draft formal proposals.
Reduces the risk of underdeveloped proposals by identifying hurdles early through community input.
Enhances engagement by creating a dynamic space for creative collaboration.
Implementation Considerations
Platform: Host the brainstorming area on the existing community platform (e.g. forum section).
Moderation: Light moderation to ensure ideas stay constructive and feedback remains respectful.
Feedback Guidelines: Encourage specific, actionable feedback to address potential roadblocks and refine ideas effectively.
Next Steps: Ideas with significant support can be escalated to a formal proposal process, potentially using Agent 9 for drafting.
Call to Action
I invite the community to provide feedback on this proposal for a brainstorming area. Would this space encourage you to share ideas? What features or guidelines would make it most effective?
I think this area could help people that don’t have a deep understanding everything (myself included). A small idea from someone, could blossom with help from other members.
I feel this proposal ties into the @GoGoGadgetCrypto proposal for an “Off Topic” forum or channel.
I believe last Thursday @Pulse_Digital mentioned that the idea had its merits, but that it would be a bit of a dev lift to create dedicated channels for these specific discussions as well as another place for moderators to keep oversight.
If an off-topic, or a brain storming channel/forum/section were to be made, I certainly would encourage both to be made at the same time. Further, if K9 announced they were going to build out these kinds of channels, I would like to see more discussion about what kind of channels should be added. Do muscle cars get their own channel, or fall into “off topic” ?
My only other consideration is that having these spaces for these subjects may decrease/detract from the K9 Main TG or from these forum discussions, because time and bandwidth is limited, and folks will usually pick one place to “park” for where they are comfortable talking and may choose to talk in one place, and decrease their conversations in another place.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Yes, the aim is to create a space to empower community members, including those without deep expertise, to share ideas that spark collaboration. It would provide a streamlined way to present concepts without the full effort of a formal proposal. If an idea gains traction and support, it could then justify a detailed proposal, with help from skilled community members who back it if the support was needed. My hope is this addition would help foster inclusivity and remove possible road blocks if a member is not confident in writing proposals even with Agent 9, so small ideas can be heard that may flourish.
Thank you for leaving a comment, you are correct, @GoGoGadgetCrypto proposal for an “Off Topic” forum or channel did push me to write this proposal, it has been something on my mind for a while. I turned this into a separate proposal compared to commenting on GoGoGadget’s one as this is more refined to “Ideas” for K9 to implement compared to a social area that GoGoGadet was suggesting.
To minimize the Dev’s work for this proposal, my view was to add a category on the forum under the current category section. The functionality would work as the current category’s do, once inside the “Brainstorming / Idea’s” section, you would see an idea & click into the thread to see the ongoing discussion.
My hope is by implementing it this way, it would create minimal work for the Dev’s while providing an area for ideas to be easily shared to the community without a full proposal being needed. I see this being a synergy that works alongside the Standard & Whale TG groups & VC’s, imagine me & you are chatting about a concept in the TG group or during a VC, when the idea is raw but has a possible spark of something, where can we make a note currently, in the TG it just fades into the history, in the VC its gone once the VC is finished unless a full proposal is written.
This would allow an area for members to see the ideas & comment / add to it overtime as for example, the initial idea maybe very basic or not quite right, but because the community can add & help build on it, K9 end up with an idea that has ironed out many of the problems making a better proposal when created, in turn giving the team a much more rounded document to review for voting. I’d finish by adding, as these would just be ideas, I wouldn’t expect the team to review them like a proposal, if the idea has merit, it would still need to be a full proposal for the team to action a review.
Thank you for your proposal and detailed explanation.
I’ve had a look at our existing categories. We already have Development category for technical proposals upgrading how K9 DAO tech works, and for marketing proposals. For everything else we already have General.
If we were to extract Brainstorming as separate category - what would remain in General then?
Just trying to figure out if there is enough to warrant two separate categories or it just fits in General already.
Maybe instead of individual category we just need an extra tag for Brainstorming posts - like we do for the Roundtable of Dogs posts for example.
Thank you for leaving a comment, yes, I am looking for a Category that allows for basic notes to be added after a casual brainstorming chat has taken place in TG chats or VC’s, this area would be a “Work in progress” selection of ideas that can be noted down for further comments before a full proposal is built out.
Thank you for taking the time to review my proposal & provide feedback.
I’ve added the below quote from a section I replied back to @My_Name_Is_Mudd with as I don’t see if fits into any of our current categories.
My vision is an area solely for ideas that may have benefits to the community, but feedback could be helpful in case a member might not have the full knowledge or oversight to a good proposal without this feedback.
I don’t believe these ideas should be mixed up with actual proposals in the categories already set out as this works. I know from my own experience, I have had many conversations inside the TG groups or in DM’s where ideas have been spoken about but without a member creating a full proposal, there is no place to add a brief statement of this idea to allow members to review & add feedback on this idea when they can.
As an example, I could write an idea down in the TG group now & the users online currently would see it, but by the morning it would be lost in the TG history. If there was an area to leave a small comment about the idea to start a conversation, I believe this would be beneficial to K9. Currently, if multiple users started adding mini ideas in the main proposal category’s, the fully written proposals for the team to review would soon end up being swamped by these mini ideas, this isn’t something I wish to see happen, so I was looking for a separate category to handle this type of information.
Just checking in to ensure I’ve communicated the vision clearly to everyone. Please let me know if you have any more or need further clarification. I’m happy to address them!
Share Initial Idea: Present a basic version of your idea to the community.
Community Feedback: Allow the community to discuss, critique, and refine the idea.
Evaluate Traction: Monitor engagement and interest to gauge the idea’s potential.
Develop Proposal: If the idea gains traction, ask a community member to draft a formal proposal if help is needed, once complete the team can then review.
Using this process, it would not only save both the community members & team from creating and reviewing badly written proposals or ideas with little pre backing, it also helps lower the entry level for ideas to grow by creating participation in the forum in a more relaxed manner to start with.
I support the proposed brainstorming area. It’s a way to empower someone with a great idea but unsure how to implement or propose it. This space allows them to share a rough concept without the pressure of a formal proposal, using the community’s collective wisdom for feedback and refinement. It encourages creativity, while constructive input from others can highlight practical steps or potential challenges early on. This area brings inclusivity and collaboration, ensuring good ideas get the support they need.
